thank you friends

Hi All:

Thank you for the kind responses to my post yesterday.  I am so grateful to this site and all of you who share your ESH.  I know I have made some progress but the conversations I have had w AH recently make me realize I am still not truly accepting that what I am saying, doing or not has no affect on him and the disease.  What a control freak I am! With an ego to match! Haha...I am working on it; I said semi-seriously to AH that part of the reason that this is so hard is knowing we love each other, but also realizing (I) could no longer continue to live the way we were.

I'm reminded of some wisdom JerryF shared with me many months ago when he wrote 'there's nothing wrong with loving an alcoholic. God does'

So I'm getting ready to move it today--my oldest son and I just bought our new running shoes, we are training for my 3rd half marathon, I'm going to try and give it over today, stop stubbornly trying to steer this ship on my own!

Thank you all again hope you have a great Thursday

Mary

Hugs Mary,

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your share today because it is a stark reminder that my mind constantly gets the better of me in terms of I may be powerless over such and such .. I have power here. D'oh .. ummm .. is it a person, place or thing .. chances are I have to accept my powerlessness not my helplessness. I do have choices and I will always have choices .. the other people, places and things .. kind of have to do their own thing.

Thank you for this very lovely share and I'm sooooo glad you are doing better. It's just baby steps, none of us got here over night and the healing is not a destination it's a journey.

Hugs P :)

Pushka.... Thanks as you know it helps SO much to know so many are working on this journey, well put! I'm going to try and put focus on the positive and when i find myself dwelling in someone else's business, gonna say a quick prayer for them and myself, and try to move on! Hugs Mary

Oh man can I relate to trying to control and thinking I was the only person able to do it right. Humbling lesson indeed, but it sounds like you are working a great program! Keep up the great work!

Great program at work! I just read your post from yesterday too. Definitely not an easy place but you are moving forward!

On a running note, if you are on FB, like I <3 running, the inspiritational postcards are fabulous running motivation!!! Happy training!!!

Thanks to you Mary, I love this:

" part of the reason that this is so hard is knowing we love each other, but also realizing (I) could no longer continue to live the way we were"

Two beautiful facts beautifully said, so true for so many of us. I would hope that would have been an awakening truth to your mate.

In support Oldergal....
