I don't know about you, but I get tired of tv and internet coverage of "famous people." It truly doesn't matter to me who scores the highest, is the prettiest or most handsome, is having a meltdown, a baby or a haircut in Hollywood, Royalty or the world of competition.
Some of the folks who are never held up to us to study and learn from and follow are the very people who add much to my quality of life.
Trash collectors, local farmers, secretaries, test tube scrubbers, animal shelter caregivers, postal workers, grocery stockers, CNAs, service station workers and mechanics - all help make my life better in ways that I need. I think I'm going to spend more time today thanking the people who make life better for me and turn my focus away from TV personalities for awhile. All folks and most occupations contribute to the whole of life in ways we need, but I find myself only taking some of the above people and occupations for granted. I want to make a change to that today and add them to my gratitude list.
Are there people and occupations that make your life better, too?

Great post...when I did home health I had the privilege of being with many older people. I remember once when I was walking through an independent living facility and passed a recreation room where some of the elders were gathered around reciting prayers as a group. Hearing and seeing such simple sweetness moved me.. I was grateful for life.
I NEVER pay attention to the Royals, or the TV celebs, or movie stars, hey we are all people....when we pass on, we will all be as naked and vulnerable b4 the Creator as the King of some country...
I have no interest in so called "famous" people...they are "famous" through people's eyes who don't have the ability or self love or open mindedness to look at ALL folks for their value
OH SURE...I loved Princess Di, but I did not think she was better than me....Just more known...that is all
I look at the folks who make me happy......no matter what they "do" I am a human BEING...not a human DOING any more
and are the celebs only famous for what they DO??? look at some of them....in and out of court for DWI's and assaults...
oh yea, grass always looks greener until I climb over the fence and look at their fields and I see pot holes you could hide a John Deere Tractor in them.....

Thanks for giving me more ideas of folks to add to my growing list of persons to extend some appreciation to that I don't always think to thank for their service. In some ways, this is another Step 8 for me. (((all)))
