"Nightmare Update"

I was so down when I posted this morning. Little sleep, a headache from crying, swollen eyes and a dread of the day to come. In the past my AH's detoxes and been extremely hard. Day 1 is seizures and 2 & 3 get progressively worse with hallucenations and violent outbursts causing restraints to have to be used and sedation being needed to the point of a respirator being required. When my son and I dropped in today, we found him sitting in bed watching TV, eating, and talking happily with the nurses. I talked to the nurse who had been with him yesterday and had told me that she has been in my situation and understood what we were going through. She told me that the hospital protocol for detoxing had been changed to ativan to ativan being switched to librium. Amazing!! It was such a relief. I had a weak moment but was struck with a feeling of being reassured that we'te not given more than we can handle. Still a long road but I desperately needed that pick me up today.

It is good to hear he is doing fairly well.  Now, I don't know about what you look like with swollen eyes, boggers running, tears flowing, no sleep... it don't sound so good.  But the picture of you in your avatar looks like stump down hollywood material beautiful!  And even a kick to the curb, face in the gutter drunk, would hold his head up long enough to watch you walk by!  So, homeboy' better get on the ball and stop doing stupid!"

I hope you are sleeping with angels tonight.

John

Now is the time to take care of you, your AH is exactly where he needs to be at the moment and that is in my mind a great plan from HP because now you can focus on you.

Hugs P :)

That is good news that he is OK. I found the same thing with my son. I would show up and all would be well except for him complaining to get out once he felt better. I now don't show up anymore. If he's going to put himself there every 3 months, he can do it alone..

Take care of you.... (((( hugs ))))
