Prayers

Hi Everyone

I was sitting here doing a little reading and journal in my book.  I ended it with a little prayer for me and my son.  I asked God if he could help my son ( 6 days sober) that he finally found a therapy for this deadly disease of Alcoholism.  That this time will be the right combination of therapy to stay in remission.  If a relapse does happen that he will get right back up and continue with his therapy.  I can only ask for help and pray for my continued therapy of recovery so I don't relapse.

I wish everyone a peaceful Memorial weekend with family and friends.

(((( hugs ))))

Cathy...when I first got into Al-Anon and heard those "focus on me" recovery statements I used to react with "Huh?" until I came to believe in my powerlessness over other people, places and things.  Thanks for the reminder..the very best I should do is pray and leave it in HP's hands.  Thanks so much for this reminder share.   ((((hugs)))) smile

I'm with you Cathy....you and your son are in my prayers...I'm hoping and wishing this is it, at least some new insights for him, keep acting different like the program says, it is working. You are actually modeling the recovering behavior for him....enjoy the weekend.....

It's hard thin line to draw where loving someone ends and unhealthy expectations of recovery take over. You also don't want to swing the other way and expect the worst in an attempt to brace yourself. I think we are all trying to find where that thin little line is and once we've found it to remain on it. I think by ourselves it is nearly impossible and the most we can hope for is to not stray too far from that line and for our HP to guide us back to it. Love and prayers for you and your son.

You can do this sweet one. Whatever he does, he is your son. Just love him, most the time that is all we can do. You are both in my prayers. '
