I was brought up in Al-Anon to constantly look for balance...serenity...sanity...peace of mind.  God knows that when the disease was raging in my life none of that or those were present.  Its not that the tools were not there; as most of you know now or knew then I was way too preoccupied fighting the dragons of the disease that I either missed the signs or stumbled over them or trounced them into the ground.  Including posting here (Life on Life's terms) and following thru on one members self suggestion (lighting a candle), I took time to meditate a bit and expand my field of vision for more positive things which HP has freely put in my way which include people I've me and gotten to know over a short period of time in fact since my brother told me of his condition and also more recent discoveries which I could not miss if I tried which includes this new avatar.  It is the flower called White Kahili (Kah he lee) which I last saw when I was very young. One of my clients has a garden filled with pink to red flowers which are beautiful and then we all know there are other colors and I wanted to break the addiction with change (aahhh the program) and I researched what was available in white and came across the Kahili which a majority of people said wasn't available (NOT!!) and if it was wouldn't grow well at sea level (ALMOST NOT!!).  I was told that it flowers at the top of it's 10 foot height and since I'm only 5-7 that meant having to cut or bend the stalks so I could see em which isn't so appealing knowing they would have to come out of their natural setting.   Hmmm.  I don't experiment with my client with things I wouldn't have myself so one plant (at sea level) went into the garden area at the hotel.  Sure nuff it has and is sruggling.  The other went to the front of my house next to a deck which when I am up on it makes me 11 foot 8 inches tall.  Aha!! solutions!!  and it flowered!!...at our house!!  and this is what it looks like in youth and as it matures the gold ring of looped petals on the outside moves toward the center and there isn't a man alive that I know that can duplicate this magic.  Last time I saw this I was just and imp and now that I'm close to 11 foot plus this critter blooms 1 foot off the ground.   LOL   What a sense of humor Akua has and I'm grateful to place it with all of the other things that are happening around me and just smile at the balance.

My duck has gone...hasn't returned home and the kahili is majestic.  It's 7 inches across.  Gonna transplant the hotel one to see if HP has another plot of ground where His flower should be.    (((((hugs))))) smile  "This too does pass".

Thank you for the avatar and the explanation of it, Jerry.  Both are striking.

Sorry your duck hasn't come back yet. I love the share about the beautiful flower, miraculous when you think of all the things that have to happen to make a flower bloom. I often think about my program in this way, if I put the work in I too will bloom and feel the glory of the sun all the way to my core. Sending you love and support!

From one beautiful flower to another.  What a prickly cactus can bring forth....

Amazing Arizona Sister!! and also a reminder of some ESH from inside of our daily readers this one being the ODAAT...that "even thorns have roses".   Great picture.   Beautiful flowers so much more larger than the thorns of the plant...doesn't that tell us something!! ((((hugs)))) smile

It's gorgeous, I love the fact you can only see it if your 11 feet or have a solution.x

Jerry, thanks for sharing your story about the flower and your amazing growth spree.  I think it is the most beautiful flower I've ever seen.  It looks a lot like the peonies that we have in our yard right now that are about to bloom in pink but so much more amazing.

By the way, I think I have the answer to your missing duck...we live in the midwest to say we are water challenged is an understatement.  We are land bound other then the amazing rain we've been getting recently...anyway, the other day a mother mallard with 8 babies came walking right through our front yard.   I shouted for the husband to come look...as we are nearly a mile from a man made lake and it's not something I've ever seen in the nearly 30 yrs we've lived here.

No, it couldn't be the same duck...or could it?  Anyway she looks just fine and has 8 new babies now too...how very cute they looked marching behind their mother with no stress or concerns in mind, body or soul...other then to be merely lead to safety just as we are if only we follow our creator.

Thanks for the smile.
