Hello all...

This seems like such a great community!

I just wanted to say hello, and introduce myself. I'm married to an alcoholic, and I'm a mom to three little girls. Yesterday, my husband drank for the first time in a month and a half. I'm just so frustrated with it, the lying, the treating me like I'm stupid. I'm sure it's things everyone's heard before.

I just want to feel like I'm not alone in this.

Far from alone. You have found a great place here at MIP. I also am a Mom with a job, 3 kids, a dog and an AH. Before alanon my life was running 24/7 on a hampster wheel and getting no where. Everyone else was taken care of but me. It is easy to put your needs to the side when living with an A, but I now know better. The first thing I would like to tell you is to please find a face to face meeting. It is hard with the kids...but I have heard you are allowed to bring them to the meetings. It's crushing when an A starts to drink again when you think they have it under control...please remember that is their choice and not yours, alcoholism is a nasty disease that can only be arrested with the alcoholic themselves and their Higher Power. All my love to you and prayers for your journey ahead. Please try out alanon...YOU ARE WORTH IT!

Dear MOM

I am so glad you found us and reached out. You are definitely not alone. Alanon is a fellowship of people who live or have lived with the problem of alcoholism We believe that alcoholism is a disease over which we are powerless. Having lived with this disease we need a program of recovery of our own. I would like to suggest that you check out alanon face to face meetings in your community
By going to the following link:

http://www.al-anon.alateen.org/meetings/meeting.html

And placing your cursor over about us in the upper left of the screen, 3 more pull downs open. One of these is information for the newcomer, and the second is Al-Anon for you; both have good information

Please keep coming back and sharing the journey

You are so not alone.  You may not see us, but you will come to know us through our posts and timely/caring responses to you.  It is like having a big huge prayer group, spiritual warriors...your higher power will speak through us to your heart.  ..and it does not matter how long we have been in recovery, your posts will inspire us and help us grow  big hug
