Quit My Job Yesterday

I just couldn't stand it anymore. This attorney is the most self-centered, rude, condescending person I have ever met. Not only that, I truly believe she is a hoarder. 50% of my day is spent searching for things that she has misplaced in that trash heap that she calls an office.  The other 40% is spent making excuses and trying to buy her time because she takes her client's retainer money and sets their file down and does nothing. I actually get to do my work 10% of the day. She is unappreciative and never has a compliment for anyone but always a criticism.  Between her and her rotten attitude and dealing with my AH who is verbally abusive, I can't take anymore walking on eggshells and being mistreated. Yesterday, I finally reached my limit. I told her exactly what I thought of her, picked up my stuff and left. I immediately felt the knot in my stomach go away. Now the job hunting begins again. Ugh!! Could use your prayers that I am led in the right direction to where I need to be.

Feeling oppressed by your employer, feeling as if she is taking advantage of her clients....not a good place to be. Don't know what state you live in but in my state, the "unemployment" office (now called SCWorks) have really remade themselves into a place that wants to help. You don't have to be filing for unemployment to use their services. In my state, they also have money under the WIA (Workforce Investment Act) to help people get additional education or certification to make their resumes stronger.

I'm in VA but I will check with our local office. Thanks for the advice.

Good luck, and congrats for standing up for yourself. I am very grateful to have a job that I enjoy. Some days it is the only thing that keeps me sane. Hoping you find the right position that makes you happy very soon!

I applaud your courage to do what is right for you. Years ago I was in a similar situation; wasnt till AlAnon I could look back and say "Why did I take that for so long? " Having a work situation such as you described beats your spirit and self worth down to the ground. I am praying for your HP to show you a better path. You deserve it.

Best of Luck!!

I fully understand where you are coming from. My last job was just awful so it was like being in hell for most of the day and then going home to an even worse hell. The only chance for any peace was on the ride to and from work. I applaud your stand.

Thanks for the support. I've had a few freak out moments of OMG, WHAT DID I DO?? but overall I still believe I did the right thing.
