OH WELL I'm OK

Well the car is sold, rent is paid until June, got all his stuff out of the pawn shop,  looking for a beater car and got a job that starts April 8.  Sounds great.

Took me out to dinner last night an paid...he was very excited and also sad about losing the car...but oh well he says.  Talking up a storm and having a good time together.

Just now he accidently butt calls me.  I answer he said oh I'm sorry didn't mean to call you......BUT he could hardly get the words out of his mouth...

DRUNK....
I just let him go.......Not sad, not happy, just moving on with my recovery.

Edit:   My denial in step 4 is getting a little clearer.  I can thank my son..  Now lets work on anger.

I know that feeling Cathy. Went through the same thing with my AH this week. At least you don't live with the A in your life, although no matter what the circumstances are it's always hard when dealing with alcoholics/addicts. I'm sorry, do yourself a favor and get in touch with that anger and turn it over to your HP. Hugs to you!

That just sums this disease up for me. Maybe he thought that after all his hard work and effort he deserved a drink!!!!

You are so right to keep your serenity. You are powerless and actually being powerless is brilliant, you are free to enjoy life even though he is drunk. Take Care.x

Serenity isn't avoiding the storm, it is the Peace within the storm..I love your tag line, but it is so hard some day, isn't it?  Sending you love

Well Cathy --- At least he is smart and knows the motions of how to get back on his feet again. Even if he's not in recovery fully, it's useful that he at least has the skills to go get jobs, sell a car, get money... This tells me he has the capacity to fully recover when he wants and when he receives that grace from his HP.

I know that you are working your alanon program wonderfully with all the tools available. We never know the reasons for things. Perhaps you caught him on his last drunk ever... You never know and you are powerless over it.

I can only pray pinkchip....right now he's in his glory and doesn't even know where he is. I hope this binge isn't the end.
