sometimes I have to go w/ quick wit!

Yes many comedian's are bipolar.  Their humor is so raw and real that they are the best in their field.  Robin Williams and Rodney Dangerfield are just a few.

It is so nice when we have that moment of clarity and peace and get through the slumps we all hit from time to time.  Once on the other side of it we can see the distorted BS our brains had us entertaining in an effort to keep us stuck in the rut, or slump of fear, anxiety or depression.  When i am willing and ready to let go, and ask or even beg for some relief, it comes.

Sometimes I feel that the best things I say come from quick wit! I say funny things to get through tough moments. I have bipolar disorder & sometimes out of mania, I say some pretty profound things: at least I think so. I have the abiltiy to make people laugh. Sometimes I think comedians are mentally ill in a way. Some things they say are so off-the-wall that they are relatable in the mental health community.

But, on the serious side: I am doing better today than I thought I would--my plans were changed but I went w/ it finally. Yesterday I was moping around feeling cruddy--but as they say in AA: we are not a glum lot & that includes me. I am just so glad that I can start my day over. I have done that many times. But, I don't always think of the serenity prayer which I think is very helpful. The slogans have been working, too. At least some of them. I can focus on a slogan & my day can turn around. What you think of me is none of my business. How important is it really? In my case the things I stress on are usually not that important or significant at all. I usually think everything is important in my own mind. Another funny thing I have heard is that my mind is like a bad neighborhood; I don't go there alone.

So, I am trying to use my wit again to make my life a lot lighter. I just have to remember that I am part of the human race & that everyone in it has a right to their opinion including me. So, I take what I like and leave the rest. I don't take my problems home w/ me: I leave them at the meetings. Now I just have to let go.

Take care everyone & don't take life too seriously unless you have to.

Kathleen
