At my Al-Anon home group, we celebrate our Al-Anon "birthdays" at the last meeting of each month and give out tokens to mark the year. Today was my four year birthday in Al-Anon. I am so very blessed to be a member of this wonderful program. The meetings, the literature, the people, this group, my sponsor, and, of course, my HP, have all helped me to get through some very tough challenges. Even though my AH passed away this past January from complications of his alcoholism, I still am dealing both the realization of losing him and the loss of my adult AD, who has chosen to cut her family off since her dad passed away. Without Al-Anon, I don't know how I could have survived all of this. I'll be okay because I'm taking care of myself and continuing to work my program. What has happened to our family is very sad, but my HP is taking good care of me right now, and I am so thankful for that. There is still so much to be learned and shared.
I love that your group does that!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! You work such a strong program!!! Keep coming back!!! Hugs my friend, p :)

Thank you for your beautiful and inspiring share. I agree, without alanon, friends, tools and my connection to HP I know i would not have been able to live Life on Life's terms
I wish my group did that. When I hit ten years I ordered a ten year alanon token from Hazelden. Then when I hit 20 I got a 20 for myself. Next Tuesday will be 21 years for me.
It is so nice to be able to celebrate alanon birthdays w/ our group as well. We have members that have 5 years or more. It is so exciting to share the coins w/ each other & celebrate recovery!
