okay, I whined about the pump on the pressure washer, about the fuel pump on the truck, about my dog needing to go to the vet... not being able to get ahead, that I "Can't get a break"....
Well, we have had such good weather here the past two or three weeks that I have busted ass trying to get work lined up, done and pay bills... and as you already know from my other post, nothing went right... and now it's cold as hell outside (40's) and its f*ckin' snowing!
To many people this is just a normal winter thing, but here in Wilmington, NC... my gawh, if they think its going to snow, they shut down the whole city because it happens so rarely that they don't have any snow removal equipment and no one here knows how to drive in it.
People don't get their homes pressure washed if they think the water that is used is going to freeze on their house! LOL
A customer I was suppose to do some pressure washing for tomorrow called to cancel because it's snowing this evening! I acted like I understood their concerns about my well being, that they didn't want me to expose myself to this cold, snowy weather and end up sick.. but in reality, I know I would look like a nut if I really said what was on my mind..."I would rather be sick in a warm home with electricity, than sitting in the dark feeling well, because I don't have enough to pay my electric bill on Monday!!" I did tell them that we could wait and see what tomorrow's weather is like before making a decision on doing the work, but they are like stuck on the damn weather radar.."nah, tomorrow isn't going to be any better, we'll just have you do it next week when the weather is better".
The damn snow here doesn't even stick to the ground! It melts as it's coming down or as soon as it hits the ground! Once in 15 years I have seen snow stick here and we got a whopping 3 inches!
I'm doing all I can, and I'm getting very discouraged that any real break is forthcoming any time soon.
God, buddy, we have to have another conversation tonight, and I know that you know...I"m not in very good spirits at this moment in time!
John

One thing is shore- nobody can it it for us... But one thing I have learned in Alanon is that I can where other folks are coming from a little before they do. And yes, of course, the others are doing exactly the same thing for me!
Its great when people are a sharing openly. The disease is catching- it seems to capture at least someone in each generation. But so too is recovery... it moves silently at first, well below the radar.
There is a great atmosphere around these MIP groups. It reminds me of my old home town, where everyone pitched in.
Over here it is a sunny summers day, but the good ol' world will swing around and turn the while darned thing on its head, soon enough!
When I start to complain about things that are going on in my life, I am often reminded of Lot, you know, the guy in the Bible to whom God kept throwing things at to see if anything would break him, break his love for his God? I work at seeing things through the eyes of those less fortunate than I; today I ran into one who I used to work for when he'd have a messy embarassing accident in his wheelchair....
You are powerless over the weather, friend.

All it is is stuff John...just stuff. Was at my home group meeting this morning and as always it was marvelous. The old timers the new comers the visitors from the continent and the couple who came back lst week to get married here with the AA By the Bay fellowship in attendance. It was their home group when they live here 3 years ago. I couldn't hang around and talk after the meeting like I usually do and wanted some time with my sponsor however I got a phone call from my wife with a complaint that she had locked both keys to her car in the car..."can you come right away". I was gonna put it off a bit but I got rained on as well as my sponsor so I fled to support my spouse. I started going over the check list...the helping checklist each with some part of a solution to getting the car open and retrieving the keys...after an hour or so we're car side again and the solution I thought I had wasn't and there was one locksmith who hadn't been called yet. So we called and then waited while having lunch together which is part of what I wanted to do with my wife today...just hang out...she only has one day off a week so we waited and ate and the guy arrived...such a simple contraption to open the door...long bent thingy magig which I didn't have and never will but thought "hey I can do that" and I didn't and 5 minutes and $70.00 later the car is open and were done. I had to spend a bit of energy and focus to get over the resentment of "how simple...how expensive" and I did real well keeping the understanding and compassion for my wife as she put herself thru the nervousness without my participation. It's all stuff...just stuff and it has passed...Dinner's done...snacks done...relaxation until tomorrow morning Sunday version of my homegroup. No snow...you get to do that one. Keep coming back. ((((hugs))))
