Blessings

I had such a crazy day at work.  Doing evaluations on 11 employees can be exhausting and overwhelming.  I want to give these the attention they deserve because they are so important to the folks I work with, but honestly, I hate doing them.  There are only so many ways you can change how you say something so that there is no cookie cutter evals.

So, I took a few minutes at my desk to myself today when I got overwhelmed.  This is something I have started to do this last week when I found out about the medical problems I have been having.  I sat at my desk, shut down the monitor and pulled out a piece of paper to start writing down what my blessings were today.  Its amazing how wonderful this makes me feel.  I think through all of the things that are positive in my life and what good stuff is going on for me.  A couple of times I have wanted to start listing the negative when I was really upset, so I did and then started on the positive.  I end up with so many more positives when I take the time to be honest with myself about the good things.

I am so glad that I am finally at a point in my life that I would rather look at the good then the bad.  I have been working with my kids on healing from the life we led with an A.  Now that I am doing better in my own recovery I am ready to work with them.  While they are not interested in Alateen (they are all very private) they are hearing me and I am hopeful.

Life is good and I have you folks and alanon to thank for my ability to see that again.

Thank you for sharing your positive attitude. I myself experience the same...when I tend to be overwhelmed or go into the direction of sadness or fear, I sit down, and reflect on gratitude. It's amazing then how I realize how I can blind myself. Reality is sometimes very different t what I want to believe.it's actually nice
Thanks for the reminder. Enjoy your day!
