Face to Face meetings and trust

I was wondering if anyone could answer a question.  I have heard a lot of talk about "bearing all" whether it be to a therapist or even on these boards.  I have heard of instances where someone has said something that was then used to report them to child protective services or the police.  In those instances the info was twisted and sometimes so long ago that it was no longer a factor.  It's kinda like your A driving drunk. It's a crime so does someone report these things?

It's kind of like the Vegas slogan.  What is shared at the meeting, stays at the meeting.

Whats shared on this site....anybody can see. That is why real names and pics are sometimes not revealed.

It's how safe you want it to be on your profile and if anyone can figure out who you are.

My daughter's therapist has heard a lot. Has been on the edge of calling but has not. Visitation with the exah has ceased so that's part of the reprieve for me. I am no longer going to allow our child to be but in unsafe situations. I guess it really depends on what you are baring...though I've never had anyone report me and there were many times that I allowed unsafe situations to occur and maybe if they had reported me it would have helped me get out sooner...though I digress. Water under the bridge now!

At face to face meetings anonymity is the only way the groups can work. If its not adhered to the group will fold.
The groups I go to are safe places where I can say anything.
Trusting that anonymity I think takes time. When we can see that the anonymity is taken very seriously by all, it becomes easier to trust it.

I agree anonymity is crucial to recovery in  alanon.  What is said in the meeting room must  remains there.

I was not comfortable sharing in the room in the beginning  I listened very carefully to each share.  I was listening for  people  I could feel  safe with and identify with.  Then after the meeting I shared with them and asked for telephone numbers.  When I shared at meetings I shared in general terms and discussed how I felt and the tools i were using.   That worked

Trust developed and I saw how the program worked.
