The insanity never stops!!

A son started on another binge 3 days ago - heard the (my) truck leave the driveway around 11:30 last nite after I had gone to bed - just enough time to make it to the liquor store before it closes, probably.  Got up around 6am this morning and he hadn't come back yet - figured he was at a friends or in jail...told myself....whatever and went on about my business.

About an hr ago, hubby goes out the door headed for the store and there is son sitting on the porch so drunk he can't walk but no truck!!  Asked him where it is & he says it ran out of gas a block away.  So we go looking for it and can't find it and he doesn't have the keys so have to assume he left them in the truck.  Hubby forces him into the other car so he can show him where he left it -- of course that was a waste of time considering the level of intoxication.  When they get back home, we try to get him out of the car & he falls...too drunk to walk so we make him crawl up the step into the house and crawl down the hallway to his room and shut the door.

Called the police to report it and of course, can't report it stolen since he had the keys but they will keep a eye out for it and I can check back with them to see if anyone had it towed from wherever he left it!!!

I'm thinking that alcoholics must have some sort of autopilot because he managed make it home in this condition but can't remember where he left the truck...geeze!!!

God grant me serenity............

The insanity never stops....

Well, I keep reading on here that nothing ever changes unless something changes.

Good luck!

Oh, I did scream but just a little -- didn't want to give into the anger, kwim? It's a black 88 dodge dakota pickup. Not much in value but it runs & serves as a spare vehicle. My worry is that if he left the keys in it, no telling what I could be liable for if someone takes it.

I've wanted to put him out of the house for a while but hubby hasn't been on board with the tough love routine but now that his truck has been lost, he might just come around.

There has to be a silver lining somewhere inside this dark cloud.

Yeah if somebody get gas in it and takes it that would not be good. No matter what value is in it....I wouldn't want to lose it.

I had one stolen right out of my driveway and I myself found it...lol. They were just driving down the street and I looked...second look....followed...called the police and got it back....go figure. Lucky I guess.

You never know....

Hopefully dad will get the message...sending out vibes to dad.

Found my truck -- parked 1/2 block from the liquor store & it was on empty so I guess he had enough $ to buy vodka but not gas!! I'm going to have the ignition changed so the key that he says he doesn't have just won't work anymore.

So glad you found it. Now I pray dad will finally get on board with you and set some boundaries

I have to be honest....I'm so glad my son doesn't live with me and I never took him in. I was wanting to at one time but I'm glad I didn't. Makes it so hard to push them out.

My son was saying that the homeless shelters in Phx are quite full.....I said you might as well and put your name on the list.

Take care...and happy you have the truck back.
