Progress

I found alanon around 9 months ago. I knew right away I was at the right place. I 'got' the concept immediately and totally embraced this program. I saw changes in all aspects of me and my life at once. I was on a high, until October. I came down to earth with a bump. My old negative thoughts began creeping in, resentment started to build. I continued reading my ODAT and attending my weekly meetings but I was not living it. I sunk into self pity and depression. Then i realised that i was having a relapse. I had not been truly working the program. So since December I have begun using the steps and connecting with my higher power (i struggle with that one a little bit at times) and I have realised that although I did slip I didnt go too far for too long.

My life has improved so much and I am a work in progress. Some of my old traits come out from time to time but I can see them now and work on them. Im on my way to serenity and I honestly have hope for my future for the first time in a long time. Thats where this forum comes in. I love that with every share I am learning and I love that I might be able to offer some wisdom to someone. Thank you.smile

El-cee, we are all human and certainly not perfect.  It looks like you have already brushed yourself off and picked yourself up.  Good for you!  That's certainly progress.

Dear el-cee

Thank you for your insightful share.  We are all works in progress.  That is why alanon is a fellowhsip of equals.  We remain human and imperfect no matter how long we are in programsmile  The big dfference is that we now have new tools to use that help us to regain or serenity and courage and  have  the additional wisdom to use it.

Glad you are here.
