Spiritual Growth

Roomies,

I wanted to share some recovery that I experienced today.

I've realized recently, that there is a "room" in my mind called "The Relationship," and I go there often to move furniture (lol), fix things, obsess, and generally focus on things outside of my control LOL. I feel like going to this room is very important work, but I'm realizing that it's all in my head and nothing in the actual relationship changes. More importantly, nothing in my own life changes.

Today, I noticed that I had entered the "room" and started doing the usual: fixing, obsessing, etc. Once I'm there, the more I try to stop thinking about the relationship (or other people, places, things, etc. I cannot control), the more difficult it is. Today, I just gentle shifted my focus from the "room" to the quiet, peacefulness of my apartment.

I wrapped myself in a quilt, lay on my bed, breathed deeply and just soaked, and soaked, and soaked in all of the wonderful quiet and peacefulness. It was wonderful! I fell asleep and had a much-needed nap.

I am enjoying the peace that this holiday is bringing, and I am enjoying the serenity possible in recovery!

Thanks BlueCloud. I woke doing exactly that and like you said nothing changes. It is great that you were able to see it, get out, and do something for yourself. I think that that is spiritual growth. I am going for my long run and I always feel my HP out there. There is alot of peace in the holidays when there are no expectations.

In support,

Nancy
