Joy to share

Went to my homegroup AA meeting last night and saw a young face I thought I recognized. Went up to him after the meeting and asked "didn't I give you a ride after a meeting a few years ago?" Yup same kid, he remembered me. The meeting was a year and a half ago, the kid (early 20's) had just gotten out of a detox/rehab for heroin and was staying at a Salvation Army .. he had been kicked out of his parents house. When I gave him that ride I could tell that the meeting was the last place he wanted to be. I gave him my phone number but never got a call. I guess didn't think he had much chance of recovery back then. I know how tough it is to kick heroin.

Guess what? He's been clean for the past year and half! Has a sponsor and has put the steps in his life. The icing on the cake is he has made commitments to speak at High Schools to kids about his struggle and share his ES&H. He said he can't believe it, he never thought he'd be able to help anyone else, and now he's doing it.

Put me in a real good mood last night. Merry Christmas!

Lou

Lou,

Merry Christmas to you! That put a big grin on my face. Good for him and good for you. Maybe it's the smallest gestures that can have the most profound affect on people. Thanks for sharing.

Live strong,

Lou that was so great.  I bet it meant the world to him that you remembered who he was as well and took the time to acknowledge and listen to his life changearound.  Luv Leo xx
