it is that time again!

Not only is it almost time for Thanksgiving but it is the day of our annual Gratitude Banquet. It is always a fun time for everyone but I can see that I can get a lot of anxiety over it. There are usually about 300 recovering people there--mostly recovering AAs. They do a sobriety countdown w/ people who have as high as almost 50 years to about 3-7 days sometimes. Well...at least in the 40s anyways. You never know who might show up. But, getting back to the anxiety. I always feel since it is a time to dress up, self-conscious. Even if I like the way I look, new dress, shoes, etc., I feel uncomfortable. Maybe I have a little case of phobias. Anyhow,if this makes sense to anyone, I hope it does, but I hope I have a good time. I will try to enjoy the fellowship & if we stay the speaker, not to forget to mention the FOOD! It is usually pretty good. I am going to take it as it comes. By the way, this will be my mom's 2nd banquet after all these years we have been going. I am looking forward to spending some time w/ her before she leaves for her vacation. She will not be the 3rd wheel, nor will I(we have trouble w/ the boundaries) I sometimes get left out because my husband & I always go w/ her if necessary. Anyhow, I will stop here.

Kathleen
