Beautiful Girl - Beautiful Voice - Beautiful Song - Beautiful Lyrics

As a music teacher (I went to college for voice/opera performance/education), It is my tendency to pull this apart with a fine tooth comb... and I can honestly say that she has a real talent here. Her pitch is nearly perfect and that's impressive at 14 when our voices are affected by hormones and other changes and growth. Her vibrato is sweet and developing naturally... she has a vibrato I've always admired, and at 14, again, this will change and grow richer and wider. The fact that she has a vibrato at age 14 shows advanced vocal control and more than just basic singing happening : )

She has sweet whisper in her tone, and a lot of voice teachers would work to eliminate that. In my honest opinion, that's something that gives a voice depth, and variances that are extremely pleasurable to the ear. She uses that at this age to express the sweet young girl she still is, and she uses other qualities to express the woman she's growing into. Just like with many other things, it's wonderful to keep in touch with the sweet soft girl we all have inside of us woman. This gentle girl who will be loving and kind and understanding of her own (potential) children someday - the one who can get in touch with her inner child just through music, for the rest of her life.

I would get her into some vocal lessons asap with that potential - and your part will be - (as most teachers want to mold you into something that can pull you away from your feelings in the music), to guide her as her mother to singing like this, with this voice, and this feeling forever. To keep recordings like this, and to help her remember how she started. To love the feelings, and the ability to express them, not the outcome, the success, or the opinions of others.

There were several years I was so highly trained, that it was stressful to sing just one note. I was so focused on doing it "right" that I lost sight of my own creativity and expression. It took work to get it back, and it wasn't fun anymore for a while. I was living off of "oh wow you're so amazing" instead of, "oh wow, this feels amazing". Just like in recovery - happiness comes from within.

Oh Yes!

This resonated with me for two reasons... firstly I was at my home Alanon last night. And after the closing we lingered to chat and to relax. From across the sea this sweet evocative song does the same for me here.

Secondly, I have been re-doing my steps one thru three... I am making  a move to another church-of-my-choice and we will be singing this kind of music... a great reminder of what is to come.
