I never used to realize all of the "elephants" walking around. I've now become SO sensitive to alcohol in general because of the AW. I can almost feel my heart beat get faster when I see an ad on TV for a wine festival coming up. Yesterday we went to Busch Gardens. It had been probably 10 years since we had been. They now serve beer everywhere there (which wasn't such a big deal cause beer makes her sick due to the carbonation.) I knew though that where there is beer, mixed drinks and wine closely follow. As we walked by this huge outdoor stand/bar I saw they served some mixed drinks and wine. It was like bumping into your worst enemy unexpectedly at the park. Maybe I was just over sensitive but almost felt like she was looking over at the stand as well (to see what they served). I found myself mentally QUICKLY scrambling for a plan if she said she was going to get a drink as to how I would react and what I would say. We passed by and she didn't get anything ad no comments made by the two of us about it. Hope everyone has a good day. Worry about tomorrow then, I will.
"Over sensitive"...Now there's an enabler's characteristic until we reach acceptance and detachment. I use to do Over Sensitive like it was a career and I got highly paid for it. Thank God for Al-Anon and all the willing, loving fellowship for shining the light on the solutions. "She's either gonna drink or not...what are you gonna do"?
