I know the reason our marriage survived for so long was separate rooms & bathrooms, Loved it.

I do recall the insanity.  When they are actively drinking, there is no rhyme or reason to their so-called logic!  Give you a big tip:  don't even waste a minute trying to make sense of their reasoning.  It's a big invite to insanity!

When my hubby was actively drinking, he'd crash on the sofa.  He often stayed there all night.  Plus, the last two years of him drinking and living here, I slept in another room.

Sex wasn't part of our lives back then.  I was fed up and I closed up (if you know what I mean wink

When we got back together, about 4 years later, I didn't know if anything would work!  biggrin

Funny my S/O is mostly on the couch. For whatever reason, he says it's me. It's nice to actually spread out and not be hasseled by his negativity. Sometimes in the middle of the night if I see him not in bed I go downstairs...yep he is asleep on the couch. Yay. Back to bed and sweet dreams!

I slept on the couch for years in my relationship. My ex-A snored so loud it was really disruptive...even with me on the couch sometimes. I used to go in and check to make sure he was not dead if I didn't hear that buzz saw snoring. Also, I got in the habit of drinking myself to sleep. You can't do that as well in front of another person. That "couch time" after my partner had gone to bed was game on drink time for me.
