Spotted tremors

I know my husband drinks everyday. He has been on holiday from work and this is his second week off. Yesterday morning I saw something which I had to take a double look at! The tremours!!! He had not been out if bed long! obviously he hadn't been getting enough alcahol in his system as his been at home and hasnt been able to drink as an when he normally does when his out of the house What happens next?

My guess is he is drinking while there. He will probably "run an errand" and go get something to fix the tremors. I believe on the far end of the spectrum (bingers) the DT's can be dangerous but I know after a 3 day stint in detox there were tremors for almost a month after my exBF came out of detox. But when he did drink, he consumed enormous quantities of vodka so for him he has to have some medication to get through it. He's had seizures before. Once they got him past that part though he was still coming down for a long while after with tremors.

The way I have heard it described is this is where the body has to have alcohol so just like ASM stated they have to get a drink, it's not a think about it's a have to. Wanting to run errands is a key tell tale sign of it too. The RA's that I have met have also described that feeling of feet hitting the floor and as soon as those shakes started hitting a drink of some kind. In their minds the drinking would stop the shakes AND the drinking stopped them from feeling. He may not be able to drink as he normally does .. chances are he's drinking. It's so hard to watch someone we love go through this kind of thing and wait for it to end.

Sending you lots of love and support, hugs P :)

Panic attacks and a "need" to take some sort of antianxiety drug or antidepressant would often be the next thing to happen but not in all cases. I was convinced my hands shaking was part of an anxiety disorder. Go figure that went away after I'd been sober (though not for several months).

Pink!! It's crazy how that all goes hand and hand in such a literal way!! Panic disorders, anxiety attacks and then the pills .. gak!! It only serves to stave off the end result it sure doesn't fix it.

Hugs p :)

One of my favorite old sayings is:

He will either drink (or get tremors, or whatever) or he won't... what are YOU gonna do?

In answer to your question of "what happens next", I sincerely hope that the answer is: "YOU get yourself to a F2F Al-Anon meeting, and start the process of focussing on you, your recovery"

Take care

Tom
