Changing what I can!

For the last few days I've been praying the serenity prayer to help me with not relapsing and getting back into my insanity.  My 17 y.o. grandson got sick last Thursday, Friday he called and asked me if he could stay at my house, he said I knew how to take care of him.  I said OK and picked him up, Mon. I had to take him to the Dr's. (a very serious sore throat, headache, fever, sores in mouth and lips.) I had to take him back to Dr. Wed. because of no improvement.  Tues. I called his mom, my a/a daughter, and I told her to call him to see how he was doing.  Finally, today Fri. he is feeling better, taking care of her sick child all wk.is really tiring along  with dreading the fact that  tomorrow I'm expected  to drive to pick my her 7y.o. daughter up 2&1/2hrs away, her dad will bring her 1/2 way, she is out of school for 6wks.  My daughter take it for granted that I'll pick her up.  I would refuse to do it if it wouldn't hurt my granddaughter so much.

So I pray for serenity to accept the things I cannot change, my daughter and her addictions. Courage the things I can, my attitude, I'm thankful that I'm able both physically and financially to help my grand children.  I'm thankful for wisdom, I know that calling my daughter and telling her all the neg. things that come to mind wouldn't help her or me.

I thank HP (God) for al anon and for all of you!  I've so much to be thankful for!

Great share getting it...I read it and hear the words of Dr. Paul on page 449 of the 3rd edition of the Big Book of AA that go in part, "...and I have learned that acceptance is the solution to all of my problems". I learned from that in Al-Anon.  When I learned to accept I did more with the right attitude and less fighting.  I also learned how to make better decisions for myself even those that included others in my life.

Mahalo again for your ESH.   ((((HUGS))))smile

Thanks so much for this... there is only so much we can do, and there is alot that is not on our "to do list"... it is on HP's

Being a fix it person, that has been a daily lesson for me, but I am getting there!
