over responsibility

I am a member of al anon and coda.

I have been affected by others drinking but btoday I know i am sick too and have really been looking at me in coda.

I do service in all the meetings i attend.  then someone asked who would take over the al anon side of a small convention so I stepped forward.  Then the opportunity for another convention came and again i stepped forward with support.  I did not realise this service was for 3years.  So i handed one convention back.

I went to a national convrntion that i have been attending for about 4 years at the weekend.  the lady who had took it on asked me to chair the morning meeting so i did.  then they asked for people to shadow to learn the service for this convention.  I love this convention but had to sit on my hands.  I love al anon and the attendance al anon wise for this convention is falling.  I want to help promote it but I wonder is this one of my short comings there was about 50 people in the room why do I always have to step up to the plate.

In me, I recognise that as a trait of the adult child. The excess responsibility that I feel. People say its because I am a good leader... I dont' agree anymore, I just think they are good followers.

I am only recently learning to say No.

It is not sitting easily at times and I feel like I have to explain and justify at times, but I am trying it out.

I wonder how it would look if you were to ask for assistance? Succession planning and planning for emergencies and contingencies etc.

I can relate and my wise sponsor said it is good for me to recognize and step back. Doing the same thing over and over for me wasn't working so well for me, ha. I am an adult child and a codependent. And sure enough other people step up and do things just fine without my perfectionism over seeing. It is a hard one for me, but good for others to learn to step up and great for me to learn to stand down. Keep up the great awareness!
