Hi...I'm new

I'm brand new to this. All of this.

I wanted to do a quick intro...

My name is Lauren. I'm 30. And I'm "lucky" enough to be married to an alcoholic. hmm We've been married for 3 years (well almost) and for the last 2 he's been drinking...heavily.  And I recently discovered he's using xanax too. I have no idea how long that has been an issue, but I suppose it doesn't make much difference.

I started attending Al-Anon about 2 weeks ago and have made my rounds through about 10 different meetings and have picked my favorite 3 to stick with.

I'm not really sure what else to say. But I'm really hoping to meet some others going through this.

Hi Lauren, welcome. You will find lots of understanding and support here. This forum keeps me centered on days I don't go to a meeting, and on days that I do. :)

I'm about your age and have the same length of marriage. Glad to meet you and keep with Al Anon...it has helped me more than anything else.

Right on glad you are here.  Al anon can help you with or without your husband getting sober.

I am so glad you are reaching out to get help.

Get the book Getting them Sober it is mentioned here often for good reason.

I am so happy  you went to so many meetings and found ones you felt comfortable at. That kind of proactive action is so key.

Maresie.

Hi... awesome start to your recovery, and kudos to you in getting yourself to Al-Anon AND supplementing that with MIP.

I think you'll find the 'power of we' on this board to be a wonderful addition to your recovery.

Take care

Tom
