Feeling all Zen...and then...

ex A shows up to pick up 15 year old. Mild alcohol smell..leftover from last night? scares me bc my 9 year old was with him yesterday

Feeling guilty that I didn't breathalzye him before letting him take my 15 year old...

he has no job, no money, offers not one dime for child support....

he tells me he got a great deal from Best Buy on a 54 inch tv -- that's what he used his tax return for...

I almost fell out of my chair (but then, why am I surprised?) He owes everyone money, including owing his son for the xmas money he took from him.

and he buys a huge TV for himself...NO INCOME at all now.. unemployment ran out 2 mos ago...

UNBELIEVABLE! I wanted to say "ARE YOU KIDDING ME? YOUR SON NEEDS SHOES!!!"

BUT -- I didn't say a word to him...though I may have been cross-eyed for a moment when he told me that...

This disease is insane.

Thanks for letting me vent.

I can really relate to this with my exAH getting a big flat screen tv while not helping with the kids. His life is irrational and makes no sense to me. I do not let him have either of our kids if he starts drinking and the kids know to let me know when and if this were to happen. Now that I am on financial aid along with my part time jobs the state requires the minimum child support ordered from him and he is living on credit cards and jokes about it. Sad, but his life.

I am however growing and doing just fine in my world and with my kids and feel all is well and getting better. When I start focusing on my exAH I can go batty, so I really try to have the attirude of gratitude. I hope you can find a meeting. Sending you love and support!

What is it with big flat screen TVs - my AH just mentioned he wants to go get one that we absolutely cannot afford and have no use for at all. It really is insane some of the stuff they do - mine practically burns the house down anytime he cooks anything. It is a constant Step 1 for me living with my AH - I am powerless over not only the drinking but the complete craziness. Good job for not saying a word, that must've been hard!!!

Gosh I don't have the issue of flat screen tv's. Spouse took his POS truck to be fixed for "brake pads" turns out more needed to be done as in rotors and brake pads .. the guy doing the work is someone I have relied on to work on the van. I was just floored because the end bill is not what we can afford and he didn't bother to work out a payment plan with the guy. Why do I know this I have to drive 2 1/2 hours to get my mom from the airport and my van is smoking today.

I'm horrified because once again this affects me.

Anyway, I am powerless over the craziness when he is active in his disease. It's frustrating big time.

Hugs P :)

Lordy, we have TWO massive flat screens, haha! And thousands of dollars in baseball cards and vintage Jordan sneakers. (pssst, they're not mine)

Yet he's angry that paying the temporary spousal support will force him to "live on credit cards." Ya, sure.

So I feel you...it's like somewhere along the way, their values get all messed up.

Alcoholism's Unity Statement is "It's all about ME!!!"  YAY!!  Not!! I wanted to yell take that Capital ME and turn it upside down cause you got it wrong...again.  I've heard it said that the alcoholic can always pick themself out of a hoard of people right away.   Take care of yourself.  ((((hugs)))) smile
