A friend of mine was in town for the week, and had a fight with the people he was supposed to being staying with. So, being compulsively nice, I invited him to stay with me even though I *hate* sharing my living space with other people...
So he showed up today, and it turns out he has a really bad cold. I don't want to use my own kitchen/bathroom/anything because he's been in them and I don't want to catch his cold.
I am really regretting this, but I can't think of any polite way to get rid of him...

Lol! This too shall pass Atheos. I'm sure your friend appreciates your kindness. Once, we had a lot of mt husbands family visiting, and his brother showed up with the flu, and within a couple of days everyone had the flu, and I was soooo irritated and just wanted everyone to leave!! But, people can't really help being sick or getting you sick. Try to get through it as graciously as you can. There is nothing worse than feeling unwelcome in someone's home.
I sooo relate to being "compulsively nice." I'm Miss Nice making all the offers, usually people-pleasing because I so desperately want people to like me, sacrificing myself because I have a tendency to feel responsible for everyone's happiness.... then later, I end up with a big, fat resentment. If I'm not careful, I end up behaving in ways that require amends. Who's to blame for my self-seeking and dishonesty?? hahaha
It's a learning experience, an opportunity to learn more about yourself, your behavior, your reactions and most importantly, your choices.
Here are just some thoughts to support you, I hope it helps ((my friend))
Kindness is loving people more than they deserve.-- Joseph Joubert
Kindness can become its own motive. We are made kind by being kind.-- Eric Hoffer
Remember there's no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act creates a ripple with no logical end.-- Scott Adams
Kindness is in our power, even when fondness is not.-- Samuel Johnson

Ugh.... Im the same way and Id feel the same way a you do right now.. However since Im not in the situation I can say that its not your friends fault he has a cold.. #1 way of not spreading germs is washing your hands... Lyscol works too!!! Colds suck but not life threatning... And Id tell that friend if he gives you a cold that he'd better be the one fixing you some soup!!! Ha ha
