just wanted t say...i have been having insomnia for last 6 mnths- and yesterday was a bad day...if i lost my perspective- or my cool....thats why. i forget that i am tired...and end up steaming through the day...and when i have an emotionally bad day....like today i woke up at 3 am this morning and havent slept since. but im going to be aware of this today and double check everything i say or do.
I think sleep is so essential. A week or so ago we had a issue with the wind and power outages and I didn't sleep a wink. I've learned to lie in the dark and relax. For some reason having snoring dogs nearby can also be soothing. They can sleep through pretty much anything!
Rest is so so important. I hope you give yourself the opportunity to get some. Have down time, watch movies, drink hot drinks, soothe yourself. You deserve the time and place to recuperate.
It was very important to me to learn to identify what I needed. When I first came into Al-Anon, I couldn't tell what I felt and had no idea what I needed most of the time. A very gentle lady helped guide me into better self awareness. She asked me often what I could do to make myself feel better until it came to be my own habit to ask and figure that out.
I hope you get some rest. I know how hard it is to cope with life in general when I am missing sleep.

(((rosie))) I can definitely relate to the insomnia. It's been going on with me for some months now. At first every night was terrible, I would lie in bed and even though I was tired, I couldn't turn my mind off enough to sleep more than a few hours. But it's slowly getting better. Now I have more nights that I sleep than nights that I lie awake. Having a glass of milk about an hour before bedtime seems to help me. Or having a piece of cheese. I don't recall the exact science of it, but they each have, or create some chemical that helps to relax you. Ditto on snoring dogs! Like orchidlover, I find that to be a very soothing sound. I hope you get a good sleep soon.
