Chatroom Issues... Getting in to it ??

Hi Everyone, 

Several members have indicated that they are having a problem entering the chat room, so I thought I would take moment to address the best method of resolving the issue.

First, make sure you have the updated version of java software on your computer.  It's free, doesn't cost a dime.  

You can download and install it from here  http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp

It's easy and quick.

Now, when you go to the web site entrance to our room, at http://www.12stepforums.net/chatroom2.html   because its java script coding, there might be a popup box that comes up, stating something alone the lines that it could be a hazard... its not.. not at all, but your computer firewall, or antivirus software might try to deter you from using it.  Many times the knee jerk reaction is to click "Yes"... don't do that, its the wrong thing to do... CLICK "NO".  This is saying  No, I don't want to block the java script from running".  If you click yes, you have just blocked your entrance into the room.  So, always click NO.

Depending on the processing speed of your computer, it should not take much more than 30 seconds (if that much) for the room to open on your screen.

Once open, you will enter it as a "guest" followed by some numbers.  Please, please, please,... in the little window in the lower left hand corner of the chat window, type a user nickname for yourself... a nick you will use any time in the room so we have a identifying way of actually getting to know you.  Then hit your Enter key... this changing your "guest" nick, into the one you choose.

Now you are ready to put your cursor into the text box and start chatting or attending meetings.

I look forward to seeing all of you in the room from time to time, the more regularly the better...

Oh, thanks for this, John. I just tried it now and it worked fine for me. I had tried it once before and didn't get into the room properly
