Not feeling trapped any longer

I was reading one of my many books "The language of Letting Go" by Melody Beattie and it occurred to me I haven't felt trapped in a long time. I have learned to make decisions and own them by being true to myself lately. I am not giving into guilt when anyone tries to pull it. I am not making choices that would leave me feeling like a victim nearly at all anymore. I am practicing self care and I am not trying to control the uncontrollable. This really works when you put forth the effort. And I now not only feel worth it, but I feel really good about my life. I have had a hard time with my step work, but it has been so good for me to focus on myself and stop obsessing about people and things that I had no control over. I hand so many things over to my HP's big hands so easily and rarely even take it back to spiral about these days.

The reading was on page 147 was "Today, I will open my thinking and myself to the choices available to me. I will make choices that are good for me"

Your message is like a breathe of fresh air!  So wonderful to read.  I do recall when you were struggling a lot.

Your message is a testament to how great the Al-Anon program is.  It can change a life for the better.
