I love the long version of the serenity prayer. It is:
God,
Grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference,
Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time, accepting hardship as a pathway to peace, taking this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it, Trusting that you will make all things right if I surrender to your will, so that I may be reasonably happy in this life, and supremely happy with you forever in the next.
has anyone practised buddhism? well- just bits from buddhism-like meditation - because there is something abut buddhism- that meditation clears yu minds from desire...its the desire that makes you unhappy all the time. im going to give meditation a go..though i am in a good space to be able to do it- i know that living with an active A it probably would be quite difficult.
No but the more I read about it, the more interested I am.
Not very good at the prayer thing - I even use the short version of the Serenity prayer - 'God grant me Serentiny!' - so I could probably benefit from more meditation too. Bought a book - its on my table - does that count?
