omg I am so happy to have found this place. My spouse is the a in my life. It sucks cause I feel like I can't talk to anyone about it . His issue is making the entire house toxic. I don't think he is so bad to where he would need a medical detox so he can't use that as an excuse. It sucks cause some days he's nice and really talking about his problems and asking for help then a few days later I try to do what he asked me to do and he gets upset. I usually now just shut my mouth because I never know what the reaction will be and I know whatever I think doesn't matter. And the selfishness of this disease just drives me up the wall. I have to do all the driving around/errand running, cleaning, decision making, ect. Grr!!! Anyways hi everyone! I'm glad to be a new member!
Welcome aboard. I am so glad you found us here too. I think you find many of us can completely relate to what you are going through. I myself live with active alcoholism and understand how some days it is a long a winding road.
For me attending face to face alanon meetings was key in beginning to learn more about the disease of alcoholism. Working the steps with a sponsor gave me the tools to learn how to live with those that are active in their disease. It is suggested that you try six or more meetings before making a decision as to whether or not alanon is for you.
So, stick around, get to know us awhile. We are a motley crew. I would like to encourage you to continue posting so we can get to know you better too.
Aloha Mychem...welcome to the board also. I do hope you'll followup on the suggestions and ESH of face to face meetings and more...literature, sponsorship, posting etc. Alcoholism is a progressive disease...if nothing is done to totally arrest it it gets worse and it often is fatal. Stick around and learn so that you can have new lessons to practice, practice, practice. (((((hugs)))))
Hi mychem, I can so relate to your share and want to say welcome!!! I am glad you found us and if you stick around and read some other posts you can really get some great tools to help in your own recovery. I hope you are able to make it to Al-anon face to face meetings and find a sponsor in time also! I am sending you love and support on your journey!!!
