Gratitude For Self Sufficiency

For a long time before I got involved with Alanon I was resentful and bitter that I was the sole breadwinner for my AH and myself. "What a burden I carry" I would often think, why is my life so hard. I make a very good living which supports us nicely, he has never been able to hold down steady work due to his array of addictions. Alanon steps in and WOW, now I am grateful that I AM self sufficient, make plenty of money to support myself and am not dependent on anyone. My bitterness over what he wasn't providing to me has now become a gratitude to my HP for what I provide myself.

Amazing how very little has changed except my perception. I am happier, more productive and grateful that even though I choose to stay for now, I know I can walk at any time, it is a powerful mind change. Alanon has truly changed my life. For the amazing people in my F2F meetings, to the people on this message board, you give me strenght, hope and support. Blessings to all!

Isn't it nice to see the world through a new pair of glasses?  Thanks so much for sharing the shift in perspective as it reflects on how much you have in your life, rather than focusing what is missing.

In gratitude,

Tommye

It is always freeing when we step outside of our self and see things from a different point of view.

I've been amazed at how much my perception affects my attitude. I have begun to make it appoint to look for what to be thankful for. As I've read post after post on here I'm so thankful that I found this site!!!
