No Problems, Only Solutions - What the Heck?

Hi All,

This morning we got up early to tackle a hedge, trim it back, before the sun was blazing down on us.  As we worked, I noticed how light I felt and that my mind was not plagued with worry as it always was in the past.

I thought about why I feel so differently these days.  The answer came in a form of a song.  The words from a Beatles songs popped right into my head:  I tell you there are no problems, only solutions.

I pondered those words awhile.  I recall way back when I was a teenager and I'd see along with that song.  I would wonder what the heck does that mean?  No problems, only solutions??????  I thought that they, the Beatles, just smoked far too much pot and never dealt too much with reality.  LOL

I sure get it now.  There are a few things in my life going on right now that would have caused me a lot of worry in the past.  But now I realize that sometimes the "solution" is simple - just let go, or - admit that I'm powerless, or - the knowing that in every challenge there is something to learn from it.  So I ask myself:  What is the lesson here

Life isn't too shabby nowadays.  It's me that has changed, not so much the outside world.  I have to thank Al-Anon in part for this change.

And to think I used to adamantly believe, and not too long ago, that Al-Anon wasn't for me.  I have to laugh.  I'm so glad I kept an open mind those first 6 to 10 meetings.  If I had not pushed myself to continue to go, this morning would have been so different - so heavy.

My life has changed so much - for the better.

Take good care all, Gail

Thank you for your share Gail!! Hugs, amazing what miracles we can see when our perspectives change and we start healing how we used to see things.

Hugs P :)

You Who, Pineapple,

Sorry, I might have sent you on a wild goose chase.  The song was written and sung by John Lennon, not the 4 Beatles.

The title is "Watching the Wheels"  Here's a youtube video with lyrics.

I was around 10 when the Beatles first came out.  I recall watching them on TV as they debuted on the Ed Sullivan Show.  Many parents thought the world was coming to an end.  LOL!

It's like a roller coaster with lots of ups and downs. Now that you have some tools, you can enjoy the ride and not be cripple with fear the whole time :)

Gail, I sure needed the reminder today.  I have a few "problems" in front of me and that song gives me a better perspective.

Thanks for sharing,

TC

I believe those things come to us through our HP. I think that song didn't just pop into your head, it was placed there at the appropriate moment for you to understand it. Perhaps its the angels?

I like Linda's awareness.  It is very close to my experiences and underestanding on this journey.  I've heard in this program that "there is nothing going on in my life that my HP and I cannot handle".   Great post!!  ((((hugs)))) smile

I think we should "box this up" and serve it to anyone who comes in, doubting the value of Al-Anon....  I particularly like the line about "it's me that changed, not so much the outside world"....

This is a great reminder to all of us Gailmichelle - thanks for sharing
