"I will not interfere with the activities of the alcoholic, or watch over him, counsel him, or assume his responsibilities. He must have the same freedom to make his own decisions as I have, since he must suffer for them if they are wrong."
And then:
"Teach me to leave to others their inborn right to dignity and independence, as I wish to have them leave mine to me."
This is from Sept. 6 One day at a time in alanon.
Thank you HP for this passage. I needed to hear this today, as my A can drive and make his own decisions just as I do. No one questions me or snoops on me or checks on me all day, so why do I think its ok to do that? Its not. And today I am going to keep on letting go and letting God...
thank you I am glad to be here....

I like that passage today because I am trying to find ways for which I can apply that to my oldest child. I want give him more time after school for independence and unstructured play. By doing so I am able to see a different perspective of him, his choices, attitudes, and what lights up his world through his own exploration.
Great thought for me to focus on today. Thanks for sharing. :)
