convention

Hi everyone been to a covention today it was great, bit thin on the ground but shares were so good from both fellowships.  My Abf is active again after 9 months and i know there is nothing i can do its his journey.  At the convention I think I came to the decision that he has so much work to do and I am just a pressure how can he have a relationhip with me and I with him when we are both so sick.  I just need to get better get the focus totally on me.  I do not resent him i understand he is ill.  I also understand all my short comings will not disappear if I end this relationship.  However I do believe I can focus on myself when I do not have ontact with him.  He is going down fast he knows where the help is.  I want to live and let live i accept the things i can not chnge.  I will just have to keep praying for the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.  I have put myself forward for 2 committees for conventions next year i love them so much i want to help.  I like it when al anon and AA come together as this disease wants us all to resent each other it wants us weak but conventions bring unity and strenghth as we all realise it is alcoholism we need to fight not each other hugss xxxxxxx

Hugs Tracy,

Sending support and love your way, sounds like you're working your program and that's the best you can do always. :)

((((Tracy))))...great post!! Thanks for the ESH and grateful for your service to the program.  That was our "meeting after the meeting" this morning and to come here and listen to you continue the discussion about the power and importance of service is very good for me.  Al-Anon isn't an "I" thing.  Its a "We thing" with HP a part of the group.

Tracy,

I can imagine your feelings and emotions just about now. Glad you had a chance to attend a convention. That was a wonderful investment on YOU. There is so much recovery at the conventions. Love them very much.

I have experienced similar situation with my Ah. He was sober for 10 yrs. and he seemed well and under control. When he relapsed, it was disappointing to me. Now, I have learned to live with a functional alcoholic one day at a time. Some days are better than others. Can't control what the As do. Just try to enjoy the occasional sober days and leave the rest to my HP.

Best wishes,

Hawaii
