Feeling Overwhelmed Today

Just want to vent today. Have not been feeling emotionally well today. Feeling a bit frustrated about things: family, job, my weekly Alanon meeting, and hosts of other things. Went to a meeting tonite and the meeting was conversational style. Cross talk was really up and happening throughout the meeting. I guess people did not feel like listening to each other share today. I wanted to hear some sharing and it did not happened. I politely asked one person to please not crosstalk because I needed to hear what was being said. One member told me to shut up. And, continued to go off on me. I am not in a good place right now.

I think the time has come to change meetings. I need to find a healthy meeting. Trust me, I been in the program for years and I know when a meeting is deteriorating and when the principles are being broken and/or not followed. I have taken what I wanted and leave the rest enough at this place. Every meeting has its flavor and its culture. I am not judging nor being critical. Just simply expressing how I feel.

Thank God there are plenty of meetings in my city. Thank you for letting me share.

Hey Hawaii..

Wow what a horrible meeting!!! Was there anyone leading the meeting?? Yeah you are right time to take what you want and leave the rest. I'm sorry to hear things are not well. When I get these days I just really call out to my HP to give me that serenity and strength to push forward.

We are here for you hawaii. Sending you love and prayers. :)

xoxo

Oh dear! Well heck with that person who was so rude. Remember how sick they are. Please throw away that crap this person threw at you. Just put it in your hands and throw it. I mean it. I taught my grandson to do this with his pain! haha

You are wise, and you were right. I am proud of you for stepping up. I know others felt the same. Either change sites or get together and fix this sick group. Get back to reading the traditions, discussing how Al anon meetings work.

I am sure you could call an Al Anon number for someone or two to come get this meeting organized IF you want to.

Yes sometimes life is like that, reminds me of that commercial,"Calgon take me away!"

So what have you done to feed your soul? Go see pretty flowers, walk, lay and look at the sky, find a pretty water place. Myself I put in a pond and made a neat place to go to catch up on my serenity.

We have healing powers all around us! The creator had a plan for all this beauty. It isn't just paint and wood. It's healing for all our senses! Sounds like you need a change of scene!

Huggen ya, wish I could come get you and we could go somewhere and see pretty stuff! love, deb

@Betterfuture: There was a leader and a secretary present. The secretary did not intervene and the leader played along with the program of crosstalk. Not sure where people's minds were today. I am feeling much more calmer now. Thanks for listening.

@Deb: You are right, Deb. I feel good about releasing how I felt. Now, I can dump it and move on. Thanks for your suggestions. I can use some nature walk just about now. Looking forward to better days ahead.

Love all,

Hawaii

I know all meetings are different, but I thought that they all had to adhere to the no cross talk thing. Actually one time someone tried asking a question at my home group meeting to get answers in the middle of the meeting and someone else quickly said, we need to get back to sharing and talk after the meeting. It was a reminder but the person asking smiled and said thankyou. Then she got her answers after the meeting...
Good job moving forward :) HUGS

Dear Hawaiilover, Ain't it true---some days are just more sucky than others!!

You got me to thinking----I have noticed, in general, that so many people are carrying around the stress and fallout of the horrible state of the economy in this country.

Have you noticed this also?  In general, I mean.

Sincerely, Otiesmile

Oh Hawaii,

You know I think you are spot on in your thinking.  Based on what you shared, I would move to another home group as well.  There are some groups out there for which crosstalk is acceptable and part of their group tradition.   It  sounds like it has become part of the fabric of your home group too.  Perhaps this is your HP directing you to another healthy group.  There are no mistakes in God's world.  Best of luck in finding another group that provides a comfortable, safe place to share.

xoxo,

Tommye

Thank you, family, for your kind words. In fact, last week I was not able to attend the meeting due to death in the family. So, I am still recovering from the loss of my nephew. Maybe what I need is a grief support in addition to Alanon. My heart is bleeding. It hurts too much. I appreciate everyone's input. Thanks, again. Love all very much.
