So I did have a wonderful time with my family last night until it was time to drive home. My spouse not only didn't feel well, had a headache, and her eyes hurt, but she drank some amount of alcohol and perhaps had a xanax earlier in the day. I did stay calm but decided she was NOT driving us home, about a 40 min. drive. I informed her of this and demanded the keys. Fortunately everyone had left and only my brother and sis-in-law had to witness this ridiculous fight. She finally gave in after 15 min. including saying she didn't know if she loved me anymore. I just joined this meeting last week, but I have to say I felt so empowered. I kept thinking of the post I read which said don't ask the questions you don't want to hear the answers to. I knew I was driving home and I stuck to the plan. Thank you so much. You may have saved our lives last night. Lyne
Aloha Lyne...major growth for an enabler and you remind me of a lesson in the ODAAT daily reader from years ago that also helped me with my alcoholic/addict wife and family. "Courage is fear that has said its prayers". Obviously it worked with you too. Thanks for returning the lessons you learned her also...cause it will work for someone else to. ((((hugs))))
