I asked someone to be my sponsor. And she said she would.
I have been agonizing over this for weeks now. I hate making phone calls. But, I called and asked. She interrupted her daily activities to talk to me. That alone is amazing to me.
In all honesty, I also called because my therapist said if I didn't he would have me call at my next appointment. I also called because it was time and I was dragging my feet. If I'm going to work this program, I have to ask for help. Simply showing up at meetings isn't enough if I want to recover.
My co-dependent self has been throwing a little 3-year old temper-tantrum all week: "I don't want to ask. I don't need a sponsor. I can do this on my own. No one can make me." <insert pouting lips and crossed arms here>
Whew! I feel a sense of relief. It was hard to do. It was a big step for me to admit I can't do this on my own.
Yaaaaay! I can totally relate. I had sweaty palms and was practically hyper-ventilating when I asked my sponsor to be my sponsor. I'm sooooo glad I did though. Congratulations to you! Freya
Yeah for you Very Very Tired! My sponsor has been such a great help to my recovery! So glad you did it!!!! Good postivie step in working the program, Yeah to you!

maybe you could name that little 3 year-old tantrum thrower, and show her the kind of empathy she needs.. give the little one a huge hug and let her have a nap. my inner-brat`s name is tia. she gets pouty very often. congtrats on all your hard work.
