I am getting ready to start on step four and I was looking for prayers to help get me in the right head space. I found this one and wanted to share it with everyone.
God
Help me to see myself as I truly am I know I won't always like what I see, so give me the courage to keep going Grant me understanding, as I need to figure out why I feel the way I do sometimes God, please fill my heart with compassion. I need forgiveness, but I also need to forgive, and that just doesnt come easily to me Please Lord, fill my heart with love. Let me love as You do, so that I may get better and serve You God, I want to do this right and I need your help today
I think if I was God I'd get the message on that one. But then again I'm not God...anymore...dang!! Guess you'll just have to say it and then stop and listen.
When I first got started on my 4th step my sponsor suggested I put on the top of each page the following:
"God, help me to see my part with vigorous honesty" Before I started writing, I was sure to do steps 1-3 and the 3rd step prayer so I could invite God into the process.
I pass the program on to my sponsees as it was given to me. Take what you like, leave the rest.
