I Know all of you have seen the destruction and total devistation in Alabama and surrounding states from the tornadoes that moved across our state two days ago. Massive is the only word to describe the toll taken on human life, property, and infrastructure. But the spirit of those who loss everything they owed including love ones amazies me, and seeing thousands put their life on hold, pull together, offer help, raise money, deliver food and water, open their homes, and giving back to others is truly beyond compare. Helping their fellow man while puting their lives on the back burner. Everyone is doing their part ever how great or small. I wish there was more I could do.
We were fortunite. A super cell tornado came within two miles of our home. We were lucky, no damage, only loss of power for two days. My wife found a brochure for a sofball tournament and pill bottle from Pleasant Grove, Al. ( located 90 miles south ) in our back yard the following morning. Two miles away a horse farm was completely destroyed killing over 50 horses, many of the horses were found over a mile away dropped in another farmers pasture. So many horror stories. So many still missing. They estimate there were over 100 separate tornadoes that touched down during the afternoon and night. The super cell that came within two miles of our home was the largest, the same one that destroyed Tuscaloosa, Al. It was over a mile wide with winds of 150 to 205 miles per hour and stayed on the ground for 187 miles destroying anything and everything it came in contact with.........Alabama is somber.
Continue to keep those who lost love ones and everything they owned in your prayers.
I am so happy you and your family were spared....god puts us through so much and sometimes he holds us above it all......you are blessed.....prayers for all those who wern't.
Pipers and I are very relieved that you and your family are safe and sound. We continue to send our love and prayers for all those affected by those awful storms. Up here we continue to be worried about flash flooding. However I remind myself that while I may get some water in my house it could be much worse. I keep that gratitude list close by.
