Hello , After moving to Cyprus fourteen years ago , marrying a local and having two children only to discover that he was a repetitive adulterer, seperated after six yrs of marriage . i spent the following four yrs on my own , bringing up my children and working hard (no such thing as child support here ) to provide for my two angels who kept me going through it all . Two years ago i met the man of my dreams (or so i thought ) , kind , affectionate , and British , a far cry from my ex husband . Six months later i realised that my partner had a drink problem , but only in the last 12 months have i realised just how serious . Lies , deceit , and abuse have become a daily occurence , even though he's not working , he still manages to drink on a daily basis , tabs freely available not just at the bars here , but anywhere that sells alcohol . I feel i'm fighting a losing battle , and feel i have lost control of my life , which i want back desperately . I live in Paphos and would be grateful if anyone knows of an Al-Anon group in this area .... i only know of the AA meetings here , and they cant help me.
Those places sound lovely. I'm in California. Probably you are already searching on the internet for Alanon in your area. They have a lone member program if there's no Alanon there. And tapes and cd's and books are available to order (I don't have a link to that website, maybe it's on this site). And you can subscribe to the Forum. I've found good Alanon books in thrift stores and in the public library.

Hello so glad u posted here today as to meetings in your area try our Web site - Al-Anon Alateen.org there ucan search for info on meetings. you can also order books from the web page. We have meetings here at this site twice a day at 9am and 9pm eastern time, but the chat room is open 24-7 always someone here to talk too. good luck on your meeting search.
Also, if you are reading alanon literature and keeping in touch with alanon through a website like this one, AA can also help you. You can get an insight into the disease through open meetings that can help put it all in perspective. There's just so much help out there - glad you found us.
