Hello. I am brand new to this site, and to Al-Anon. I have attended two meetings (two Monday nights in a row), and am already feeling more hopeful. I know I have a long road ahead of me. My spirit is pretty bruised these days. I am hoping to find a place in addition to my meetings. Everyone was so nice and helpful, but I think more than one outlet will probably be good for me.
My husband is the alcoholic in my life. I'm still a little too raw to get into too many details, but my life has indeed become unmanageable due to his drinking. I am already trying to apply my new tools, but like any new tool, learning to use them takes time. I'm already trying to use a little bit of detachment, and am trying not to judge and scold (that's a hard one LOL).
Dear Finding Courage , Welcome to MIP . I am so glad that you have found the rooms of al anon and this Board. Alcoholism is such a destructive force that it is important to use as many tools as you can in your search for serenity and peace.
Meetings, Living one day at a time, Focusing on Myself, Prayer and Gratitude Lists have all enabled me to grow and live life on life's terms.
Welcome to MIP, and kudos to you for finding f2f meetings.... this forum is an excellent "add-on" to your program of recovery..... Post when you are ready, and lurk willingly.... this is a very good place...
Take care Tom
