Hoping some of our double-winners know more about this...
I need to purchase a copy of the Big Book - my exAH took the one we had in the house with him (although it's not getting any use). My sponsor requested I keep a copy of the Big Book as part of my own step work in order to understand alcoholism. I read the first 164 pages of the book early on, and most of it stuck with me... but now that I have a sponsee, I think it's time I get my hands on my own copy of the BB since I'll be referencing it to her.
I was looking online and came across something called a "Study Edition" by the Anonymous Press. I'm not sure exactly what that means - I assume it means it's a book designed to be marked up, which I think sounds like a good idea (I have one exercise where I'm going to go through and change all references to alcoholism to the perspective of an Al-Anon). But I'm a little concerned because the description references that it holds the original manuscript and footnotes, too... and not sure if that's just going to be Too Much Information for what I need.
I'm intrigued about the extra note-taking space and numbered lines for reference, but just don't want to get mixed up between the original and revised versions.
Any double-winners hear of these Study Editions - have you used them?
Hi there Aloha, I dont know if i'm a double winner yet. kinda new to this side of the fence. any way if there is a spiritual book store, or an alono club near you, sometimes these carry them. The only difference in the study and the regular is the extra space for notes. I think it is a really good idea for anyone fighting with disease to have the knowalge of what alcoholism is, and what better place to get it then from the peopl who know most about it. here is a link for an on line copy of the big book,
Sis...call the West Side Central Office and ask them what they have on hand and to further explain the Study Issue. My literature doesn't breakout a "Study" issue.
Good use of the literature...you're growing. (((hugs)))
