Every time I hear this song . . .

I heard it driving down the road when it first came out and it made me cry.

Now it is very popular and on all the time.  I feel myself walking away from it.  It is starting to feel less like what life should be and more like what I should be running from.  That is a good thing.

These are explicit lyrics . . .

Eminem - Love The Way You Lie ft. Rihanna

"I love the way you lie"

Really says it all.

Tricia

I relate a lot to this song as well, as that is exactly the core of the matter with me.  I love the way he lies.  Although the song is about domestic abuse, I can easily substitute my alcoholic relationship in there and see where it is going...  I love how songs can bring out thoughts and emotions to the surface so we can experience them in safe bite sized pieces and then move on withour day....

Thank you for posting this Ticate- total resonance, as well... especially now, as I feel myself walking away physically and emotionally.

Most of Rihanna's songs are dark If you listen to the words, so many of them.  Alot of addiction and abuse and her addiction to the addicts...........sheesh lol

For me, this song is more about me . . . not us or him.  About where I was, who I was, what I tolerated and what I considered love.  The domestic violence does not apply to me either.

Yep, I agree that her songs are dark, but not much about these types of relationships that are bright and sunny, the truth hurts.

Nice to listen to it now and think about "who I was" and not "who I am".  One day at a time.

You know what hit me in that song, and like you I see where I was a while ago (not too long ago).... My depression is a seductive thing and the line "just gonna stand there and watch me burn, thats alright because I like the way it hurts" hit home for me. I really did like the way it hurt to be depressed. I have worked hard on that lately. The last two weeks have been a total eye opener. I fight my way out of depression every day, but I have seen now that I was wallowing in it really and that my HP has helped me have a brighter day, moment by moment... Eminem is in recovery, which is awesome :)

Why don't we list the books/songs/films that we can relate to - may help others?
