Trust and Faith #2

I don't think driving home into the sun after having my eyes dialated has anything
to do with trust and faith but them maybe just in light of God watches over drunks
and fools.  I am still a work in progress in the stubborness area and the oppositional
defiant arena.   I remember my sponsor saying to me...We know you can do it but
should you?  I shouldn't have and did anyway.  Not sane; not sober put HP to work
not guiding me but keeping everyone else away from me.  i remember reading a
psycological profile for alcoholism which said that the alcoholic personality is partly
one of a risk taker.   Gotta hammer out another 7th step.  Any suggestions and
feedback I will humbly listen to.

On the other hand Mahalo for the thoughts and prayers because I again am reminded
what the program and the fellowship is about.  You send your HPs to attend and that
is what happened.  I learn all over again what those closing words in the promise at
the end of our meetings mean.  "If you keep and open mind, you will find help."
When I take an attitude that i don't know and others will help me understand it allows
others to be there for me.  I went in thinking that what needed to be done was fixing
my right eye and that my left eye was a goner.  I'm given the feedback that my right
eye is good and normal for my age and condition (slightly hazy) and that my left eye
is operable!!  Gratefully humbling.  I'm amaze what happens when I refuse to cave
into 1st opinions and allow time, patience and others experiences teach me what the
real possibilities might be.   It's operable and I have an appointment for further work?

Trust God is the summary of the first three steps and trust the fellowship is the
summary of surrender for me.  I'm humbled...and grateful and excited.

I also had the grace of remeeting an old friend and associate from the Alternatives
to Violence case work days.  I hugged her like an old lost teddy bear LOL what a
beauty and she brought me up to speed on what transpired after I left and how
things were going on for her since and I brought her up to speed also and we just
speeded each other along waiting for our appointments.

I have no disappointments or complaints about the afternoon...isn't that great!!  I'm
looking forward to the next appointment and I will still interview the doctor before
the proceedure about the downsides if any because it is during those downsides that
I need higher power.   The last surgery I went thru my surgeon said to me "There are
things happening here that are beyond my knowledge and experience."  He and the
anesthesiologist had participated (only) in a miracle and came to acknowledge it.  I
don't consider myself that special that these should happen so often but then I don't
have God's will do I?  I like to think that what is working in my favor is your prayers
and thoughts...so I won't change that thought.  I just say Mahalo and continue to
do the same for you and others.

(((((hugs))))) smile

Well the therapist in me says, "well going by what you shared, you are one who likes to be in control. You don't like it when someone tells you, no you should not do this or that." What did I tell you in my post, I know you too well. DO what your doc says to do and not to do!

I love stubborn men so I don't consider it to be a negative thing. lol thank goodness your drive into the sun didn't get you driving into the ocean....

Keep us posted, I know you will. love you,deb

Sorry Jerry, but pictures of Pirates of the Caribbean flashed in my mind. Only difference......Johnny Depp played by Jerry F, 200 years later driving a car, with eye patch, sailing his ship into the sun with determination and and a touch of stubbornness.

I'm happy all went well for you, and will continue keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

HUGS,
RLC

Ain't it grand?  I don't ever say never and leave that up to others who also say
"I can't" believe rather than "I won't" believe.  I wouldn't at one time until I got
into the program and you all introduced me to my HP again.  I will die extreemly
grateful for that event and you all and others were in my morning conversation
with my HP that you all be awarded every blessing and miracle that HP would
give to his creation.  Gotta go do some service.   Mahalo  (((((MIP))))) smile

So cool, Jerry, to give it up to HP and get not only more than you thought was possible, but something never even considered... it has happened to me on a few ocassions, and I still am in awe of the miracles.

Of course, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Trusting others to deal with your eyes.. WOW!.. sounds like the ultimate lesson in trust, faith, vulnerability and surrender to me!  Okay, well yeah, may still need some work as you did drive home, but at least you agknowledged it wasn't a good idea.  So glad your HP kept you safe as the other drivers were "shooed" away from you.  LOL!

Thank you for sharing this experience with us.  More miracles to come!

Blessings,

Lou

As far as driving while your eyes were dialated... well you must be related to my hubby. He did the same thing as he didn't know his eyes were going to be dialated, Advised him I am sure they would have let him use a phone to call me to pick him up but it's just plain stubborness sheesh!
Blessings to you as always Jerry
