Not letting it bother me

I will be reading all of the posts I missed today when I get home tonight...  But for now, I just wanted to say that my exhusband (the abusive one) was stirring up crap today.  At first for about 10 minutes, it really bothered me.  Then somehow, I began to look at it a different way.  I was able to turn it around and make myself feel better.  without my new Alanon way of thinking, it would have bothered me all day before!  Now I am able to shrug his crap off much easier ;)  YEAH!  And thank you all for your responses below.  My exhusband likes to try and push all my buttons and make me feel guilty.  I know that I am doing the best I can with what I have right now and that he is projecting onto me what he thinks is best for me.  He is trying to make me have mommy guilt, he even said that "You should feel guilty for missing our son's foot ball practices"  HA!  I have enough guilt without him adding to it.  Anyway, I was able to clear it away quick today.  I am so happy :)  Again thanks for reading.  I know this has nothing to do with alcohol, but it has to do with my recovery so....

Good for you Maize....

I love when we win over ourselves...because its not about them.

I dont know where I read this, could be in the AA big book, but it says to picture a "mental patient" sign on their forehead, might be the wrong analogy, but it was something like that.

It helps us get out of ourselves and detach. It has everything to do with alcohol, the behaviors that they exhibit, trying to make you look smaller because they do carry the guilt of their disease.

Good for you , again. Luv, Bettina

GREAT JOB!  I find it feels so good when I use the tools appropriately.  I fall on my face a lot . . . so when I get it right it feels GLORIOUS!

Hope it did for you too!

Tricia
