Maybe this is a start................................

Still not buying the higher power stuff in the sense that I felt abandoned by him (her, it, whatever) a while ago.  I do remember a meeting or a reading passage where someone said that they got that step in pieces....they came......(at first that was all), then they "came to" (as in woke up etc.)...then they came to believe............

I can believe that I am powerless.  I acknowledge that something (maybe many things) is greater than myself here because life is smacking upside the head alot lately.  As far as believing something will restore me to sanity????  I'll have to see about that...I have my doubts right now.....although I'd settle for not being depressed anymore, insane or not confuse

Maybe its a start.........

Why not consider the program again? Something for you to think about. Attend f2f meetings, accept the program at face value, trust it, don't question it, fake it till you make it, and have faith that it will work for you. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. You need some positives in your life. In the rooms of Al-Anon is the place millions of sick and crazy people like myself have found the help and serenity they needed to change their life for the better.

Life throws all of us problems, trust me I have my share. At times more problems than Carter's got "Little Red Liver Pills", but life gives us choices when we are faced with those problems. I have been knocked down by this disease and problems in other area of my life more than I care to mention. There is nothing wrong with getting knocked down, that's going to happen. I've been in this program for 4 years, now when I get knocked down the program picks me up, dust me off and send me on my way. It works for me every time........when I work it! The more I worked the program over the last few years the easier it became, then it became a habit. I'm sold on it. I know what it has done for me and I have seen first hand what it has done for others.

Life is full of choices. Choosing Al-Anon, making it an everyday part of my life, and applying it in all my affairs is the best choice I ever made, bar none.

Dear RLC

How well said.  I agree 1000 %

MJ please try 90 meetings in 90 days and keep an open mind.

I always thought I had an open mind until I started this program and all my cozy littl beliefs were in question.  I discovered that my mind was so very closed and locked.  I do not believe I let in a new thought in years.

Letting go of my pre conceived ideas certainly let alanon flood into my soul.

Please keep coming back

Yes, many people consider the Al-Anon group/program as their higher power.  It's "as you define it."  The group collectively has the wisdom and the strength to guide us to a healthier life.  What we need to do is to be guided by healthy guidelines rather than by the demands of the alcoholic.  Anyway that's the way I understand it.

One definition of GOD that helped me was "Good Orderly Direction" - it may help?
