This is a show that I don't watch. Some how it ended up on that channel on Friday and it caught my eye. I pretty much had the TV on for background noise and lo and behold. As I mentioned in a previous post the show was about addiction with children and the parents were coming to Dr Phil for help. He sent them to an alanon meeting. He was no nonsense with them. I wish I had seen the previous shows but evidently one couple had gone against the treatment center their child had attended in the past and instead of having their child attend longer they got him an apartment....Their son relapsed.
This was the first time I have seen alanon on TV and the difference in the parents was remarkable.
Did any one else see this show? I wish I had seen the whole thing. What did you think?
I hope it got some folks to see how alanon can help them if they take the time.
Yes, I did see it. I was surprised and pleased to hear Alanon mentioned. I think it was another doctor that recommended that they go to Alanon. He said go to 7 meetings. The first two meetings they didn't get it and then their eyes opened.
I didnt see it but glad to hear alanon was recommended. In my state I see AA commericals also on TV which surprised me. Im glad because oddly enough some people dont know help is available. Heck I didnt know alanon was out there until 2 years ago, it is the best kept secret :)
ALANON IS MENTIONED IN ADVICE COLUMNS ONCE IN AWHILE TOO. I JUST READ ONE TODAY ABOUT A LADY WHOSE MOTHER IS AN ALCOHOLIC. I AM SO GLAD THAT THE ADVICE COLUMNISTS ARE AWARE OF OUR PROGRAM. KATHLEEN
I didn't see it, but I know that the Lois Wilson Story resulted in quite a few new members after it aired, so I'm glad the message is reaching people who need help.
A while ago our local radio stations were running some Al-Anon ads, but I haven't heard any in a while.
