Hi Meg and welcome to MIP and Alanon.

I am glad you have reached out and discovered 12 step programs.  I have been a member of alanon for over 25 years and truly believe it has saved my sanity and life many times.

Alanon believes that alcoholism is a disease that you did not cause, cannot control and cannot cure.  Living with this disease causes all around it to become ill and need help.  This Board and alanon offers that help.

You are not alone and what you shared sounds very familar to how I behaved before I walked thru the doors of alanon and found new tools  to live my life.

It is important to break the isolation.  Face to Face meetings are held in every community.

By going to the following link:

http://www.al-anon.alateen.org/meetings/meeting.html

And placing your cursor over about us in the upper left of the screen, 3 more pull downs open.  One of these is information for the newcomer, and the second is Al-Anon for you; both have good information.

We also have on line meetings here 2 xs a day and a chat room open 24/7

Please keep coming back

In order

(((((((((((((Welcome Meg)))))))))))),

You are not alone many of us have walked and still walk the same path you are on.  The differance is we have learned the tools we need to just let them go and help ourselves step outside the box.

I know only too well how painful it is to watch someone we love slowly killing themselves day by day.

Now you can get help for you, you know have a place to come and let out all the hectic bull crap from your day.

Welcome you are not alone....

With Love,
Andrea

Hi Meg

So sorry that there are no meetings in your part of the world. Sometimes  members find help at open AA metings.  So possibly you could search them out.

In the meantime literature can surely help!!! Here is a web site that will give some great alanon literature to start your journey.

World Service Organization is the Service Arm of Alanon Family Groups  They have a Web Site with some great literature  One is the Steps the other is on detachment and the other is the BOOKLET"JUST FOR TODAY" my favorite
the web address is

http://www.qis.net/~alanon/literature/justfortoday.php

Hi Betty and Andrea

Thanks for the encouragement. Ijust attended my very first Al Anon meeting ever on line on your site and it was fantastic. The meeting was starting 10 minutes after I logged on so that was great. I will keep attending meetings on line and try and get some literature in. There is someone who has just started a womans group kind of associated with AA and they are running a 12 step program so I hope I will get some help there too.

Take care

Meg

Aloha Meg T...you are not alone whenever you can hook up with MIP. We're open
pretty much 24/7.  Look for the literature link for Al-Anon literature and get as
much as you can so that you can learn about the disease and you.  Click on to
afgwso.org and check out the monthly "Forum" magazine.   It's very helpful with
sharings from around the globe and 22 dollars US a year including mailing.

In support (((((hugs))))) smile

Welcome to this incredible resource.  I am so glad you are here.  I do believe getting all the things in place to get into a meeting and into the chat room is a trial by error.  Nevertheless it is worth the effort.  If you have a chance get a hold of the book Getting them Sober.

Welcome.

I am glad you are here.

Maresie.
